The Wayfarers | BRANDING

Brand narratives with oomph

There are countless ways to travel, but wayfarers choose the road less travelled. Checking into farm stay in the middle of nowhere, sharing a local beer in the Northeast, or planning a trip around a festival in Ladakh, for them, travel is about becoming of the place.

Abhiram & Neha created the Wayfarers for these offbeat travellers. An app catering to unique travel archetypes, driven by an algorithm that would help you discover unique experiences in India.

What ensued was a long branding journey for us. A custom logotype, multiple illustration styles and a consistent brand language made sure the travel app stands out and speaks to those who are seeking an extraordinary travel experience.

Discover

There are plenty of travel companies offering “offbeat” experiences. What made Wayfarers different was that it was built on the founders’ own journeys. Having spent years travelling across India, they curated places, stories, and recommendations from firsthand experience, matching each traveller with destinations that suited their unique travel archetype.

Define

There is no single way to travel. Every traveller seeks something different, making personalisation at the heart of the Wayfarers’ visual identity. Drawing from psychology and behavioural research, the app identified distinct travel archetypes, each with its own preferences.

The Wayfarers became a curated guide to India’s hidden gems, helping people discover experiences that felt uniquely their own.

Design

The hyper personalisation of the app’s function became the force behind all branding decisions. From a custom logotype designed to stand apart in a sea of travel apps, to bespoke illustrations for each travel archetype, and postcard-inspired artwork celebrating cities across India. The identity unfolded in unexpected ways.

The brand extended beyond the screen, finding its way into an experience kit sent to users.
